Hair straightening reshapes the hair from its original form into a smooth structure – the process is also called hair reshaping.

A distinction is made between chemical and Keratin straightening.

Kerasilk's Keratin straightening, on the other hand, uses a combination of glyoxylic acid, keratin proteins and silk proteins. This combination rebuilds the hair from within, and the new keratin bonds make the hair more stable. The hair is then not only smoother but also silkier and more radiant. Keratin straightening is also significantly gentler on the hair.

Keratin straightening is a simple process in which a special product is applied to the hair. A flat iron is then used to straighten the hair. The high temperature of the iron raises the disulphide bonds in the hair and the applied keratin fixes them in place. At the same time the cuticle is sealed for smooth, shiny hair on the outside. This straightening is not permanent, but semi-permanent over several months.

A Keratin smoothing can be applied to all hair types, including straight, curly, wavy and damaged hair. It is also suitable for colour-treated and chemically treated hair. With colour/chemically treated hair, however, there can be a colour shift – meaning the colour can change nuance or fade. A re-colouring is possible 2 weeks after the treatment.

The duration depends on the length and thickness of your hair.

As a rule, an appointment takes between 2.5 and 4.5 hours.

After a Keratin treatment many clients assume that their hair will always be smooth.

However, Keratin has to be activated by heat after every wash. So you still need to blow-dry.
