A consultation appointment is always sensible when you're unsure about your wishes, have severely damaged hair, or have coloured or tinted hair.

What is the problem with coloured or tinted hair?

Not every wish is achievable on tinted or coloured hair. Pigments have been deposited artificially, so that when we lighten, the result can differ from naturally untreated hair – the pigments react differently and are usually harder to remove. The result of the first treatment can turn out darker or warmer than desired. In a consultation beforehand we can discuss all of this and give you an estimate of what's possible.

Babylights is a highlight technique using very fine strands that imitate a natural, subtle colour gradient and give the hair more depth and dimension. The ultra-fine strands create the on-trend look of a natural, sun-kissed colour transition. The look can be supported with lowlights to add more accent. The colour palette ranges from light blonde to warm golden tones.

They are applied starting close to the roots and are particularly suited to people with fine or thin hair, because they create a subtle effect without stressing the hair. Babylights can be done on any hair colour and length. They can be applied either with a foil technique or with a freehand technique. Foils allow for more precise application, while freehand gives a more natural look.

Babylights work on every hair type and create fresh, radiant reflections in any hair.

They also grow out very harmoniously, producing a Balayage-style effect or colour gradient as they grow. Individual highlighted strands are also less visible than with classic highlights, so the result looks much more natural – but not like an all-over colour.

Balayage, Babylights and Highlights are all highlight techniques that add colour, height and depth to the hair. They differ in how the colour is applied and what results they create.

Balayage: the colour is applied freehand or with foil and brush to create a soft transition to the natural colour at the roots.

Babylights: this technique creates very fine strands that are lighter than the natural hair colour for a youthful, fresh look. They begin at or near the roots and run down to the tips, producing a fine, soft, natural highlighted effect.

Highlights: here strands are deliberately set from the roots and applied with foil, paper or cap. This technique produces a more high-contrast look than Balayage or Babylights – the highlights are clearly visible.

The duration depends on the length and thickness of your hair.

As a rule, an appointment takes between 3.5 and 4.5 hours.

Olaplex is an add-on option available with every service.

Olaplex is a product range from the USA that instantly conjures up cared-for, healthy hair by repairing broken disulphide bonds in the hair structure. It also enables gentler colour changes, for example from dark hair to platinum blonde.

Depending on your hair and your wishes, Babylights can be redone every 4-9 months, but the technique can also be allowed to grow out completely.

Our recommendation is a regular toning to keep the shine and the blonde tone.

A toning is a refinement of the hair, mostly used after bleaching processes to nuance the colour. It also gives the hair extra shine.

A toning should be refreshed every 6-8 weeks to keep the colour result.
