Frequently asked questions
What are hair systems?
Hair systems are modern, custom-made hair solutions that look optically like real hair and are used primarily for hair loss, thinning hair or receding hairlines. They are the evolution of classic wigs and toupee systems – much more natural, more durable and more individual.
A hair system is a thin, skin-like base (e.g. of Poly, Lace or a combination) onto which real or high-quality synthetic hair is knotted (we use only real hair). This system is then attached to the scalp.
How long do I have to wait for my system?
That depends on our capacity and your flexibility. We always start with a free consultation to answer all questions and advise you appropriately. Once all questions are answered and we have decided on the right technique and colour together, it usually takes 7-10 days until the final fitting appointment.
What is the right care?
To keep the system in good condition, it's important to apply the right care tailored to the technique.
With all systems, don't wash too often.
Use a mild shampoo and a moisturising conditioner on the lengths to care for the hair – special products developed for hair systems are best. Avoid styling the system too hot, as this can cause it to wear out quickly, and use a good heat protectant when blow-drying.
We recommend Tangle Teezer or wild boar bristle brushes for caring for the hair.
Basic rules:
- Never blow-dry upside down
- Don't go to sleep with wet hair
- Less washing is more
- Use special products if possible
What is the difference between Lace and Skin?
Lace and Skin hair systems differ mainly in their material and wearing characteristics. Lace is made of a fine, mesh-like fabric that is very light and breathable. As a result it looks particularly natural, especially in the hairline area, and offers a pleasant wearing feeling – even in warmth or during sports. However, Lace is somewhat more delicate and requires more careful maintenance. Skin systems, on the other hand, are made of a thin, skin-like PU layer characterised by robustness and easy cleaning. Adhesive bonds particularly well to this material, making Skin a long-lasting and stable solution. However, it allows less air to the scalp and can therefore feel slightly warmer. While Lace is ideal when an especially natural hairline and high comfort are paramount, Skin is perfect for men who prefer a resilient, low-maintenance and very durable solution.
What is the difference between Lace Swiss and French?
Swiss Lace and French Lace differ mainly in their fabric fineness and resilience. Swiss Lace is particularly delicately woven and therefore looks extremely natural, making the hairline almost invisible. French Lace, on the other hand, has a more stable, somewhat stronger structure, which makes it more durable but optically slightly more visible.
While Swiss Lace is ideal when a particularly natural front hair area is desired, French Lace scores especially as a complete system base – particularly when a higher hair density should be worn.
Can systems be harmful?
Incompatibilities of the material or adhesive can cause skin irritation; if that happens, we are immediately on hand and can remove the systems, and the scalp then settles down again.
Do we also lift up external work?
Yes, we re-attach hair systems even if they are external work and from another brand.
