Hair extensions means lengthening or thickening your natural hair with real or synthetic hair strands. To achieve a natural and long-lasting beautiful look we use exclusively real hair extensions in Remi quality.

Remi quality means that the hairs are human and have an intact cuticle. In addition, every hair is aligned in the same growth direction, i.e. root to tip. This is the highest extensions quality available.

It's important that you're aware of the time investment that comes with extensions and that your choice of extensions matches your lifestyle and styling habits.

As a lengthening, women who want to grow out their hair can have instant length to their dream length. The natural hair grows along with the extensions, and over time the extensions can be removed completely or kept just for volume. A minimum length of 8-15 cm is required.

With a volume boost the existing hair becomes thicker and more voluminous. Whether through illness, genetics or damage to the natural hair, once hair is thin it takes a long time to recover via conventional care. Extensions are often the faster and safer method to get full hair back.

There are many different techniques for lengthening or volumising hair, and there is a suitable type for every hair type and structure.

Tape-in extensions are one of the most popular options because they are gentle and sustainable in application and create a natural look. They are attached to the hair using a special adhesive and are one of the fastest methods of adding length and volume. Tape extensions are a good option for a long-term solution that is easy to maintain and lasts longer. They suit thin or fine hair best because they sit very flat and barely add bulk. The weight distribution is also particularly balanced with tapes because more surface area carries the additional weight than with other techniques.

Bonding extensions are another popular option that also creates a natural look. These extensions are attached to your own hair with keratin and are an option that stays in the hair for 3-6 months. What is keratin? Keratin is a protein that occurs in natural hair and is responsible for the structure and strength of the hair – it is the body's own substance. Bonding extensions are particularly suited to people with thick or strong hair, because the extension strands can also be thicker if desired and thus more hair can be attached to a single strand than with most other techniques.

Clip-in extensions are another option, because they are easy to apply and can be attached as desired. They are attached to the natural hair with small clips and easily removed when going to bed or washing, without residues. Clip-ins need to be checked individually, as good coverage hair is required and the natural hair has to be very strong with strong roots. No special recommendation can be made for this technique.

Tressen extensions are another option to quickly generate a lot of volume. They are attached with small nano rings, needle and thread to your own hair and can stay in the hair for up to 8 weeks. Tressen extensions are particularly suited to people with thick and strong hair because the wefts fall flat and voluminously. However, this technique is not necessarily possible for every type of hair.

Ring-in extensions are attached to the natural hair with small nano rings and are an option that can stay in the hair for 3-6 months before being lifted up. Ring-in extensions are basically suited to all hair types, although bleached and coloured hair must first be tested for brittleness, as the mechanical extensions place strain on the hair via pressure.

When choosing a hair extension it's important to pay attention to quality. There are different quality criteria.

Type of hair

Firstly you have to distinguish between 100% human real hair, real hair and synthetic hair. Synthetic hair is a low-cost alternative offered particularly with clip-in extensions. This quality uses acrylic or silicone fibres, sometimes with an additional coating for a nice shine. Depending on care instructions, styling with heat tools is possible, but this quality is unsuitable for permanent extensions. With real hair, you should be careful, because it isn't only human hair that's referred to as real hair. Especially with cheap real-hair extensions, horsehair or other animal hair can also be included. With 100% human hair, only human hair is allowed. This quality should always be used for permanent extensions for long-lasting enjoyment of your hair lengthening or volumising.

Quality

Remy hair is the highest grade of real-hair extensions, as it is carefully selected and treated to produce a natural and shiny appearance. All hairs lie in one direction of the cuticle for high longevity without tangling.

Single drawn

With extensions this refers to the lengths and tips. Single drawn means that the extensions taper towards the tips and therefore have a natural fall. With fine hair this can be an advantage and the extensions don't need to be thinned. With thick and strong hair the tips can then appear too thin and fine.

Double drawn

Can be used with both thin and thick hair. Here the lengths and tips stay equally thick and thus create plenty of volume in the tips as well. With thin hair, thinning may be needed or less hair is used from the start. Double drawn therefore represents a higher quality than single drawn extensions.

Origin

Indian real hair is probably the most commonly used extension origin in Europe and the USA. Indian hair is structurally and texturally closest to European hair. Indian hair is also usually the best in terms of price-performance and is therefore most popular. European real hair is a very high-quality grade that also costs more. European hair is usually lighter and finer than Indian hair and can be coloured more easily. The quality of this hair is unbeatable and each wearer gets a different hair feel. However, this hair is also very rare and therefore hard to obtain. Asian real hair is structurally much stronger than European hair and therefore unsuitable, or only an emergency option. The structure also needs strong lightening processes, which strain it considerably for light shades. African real hair is structurally similar to Asian hair, and usually has a curly, wavy base form, so the hair often needs to be chemically straightened in advance, losing quality.

Once all questions are answered and we have decided on the right technique and colour together, it usually takes 3-10 days until the final fitting appointment.

To keep the hair extensions in good condition, it's important to use the right care for the technique.

With all permanent extensions, don't wash too often. Washing and conditioning once a week to keep them healthy and shiny is our recommendation; the cover hair can of course be washed more frequently as needed. Use a mild shampoo and a moisturising conditioner on the lengths to care for the extensions – special products developed for extensions are best. Avoid styling extensions too hot, as this can cause them to wear out quickly, and use a good heat protectant when blow-drying and styling. Especially with styling tools for curling or straightening.

At night a braid should be tied to minimise tangling; the right brush is also important here. We recommend Tangle Teezer or wild boar bristle brushes for caring for extensions.

Basic rules:

• Never blow-dry upside down
• Don't go to sleep with wet hair
• Tie the hair together at night
• Less washing is more
• Hair oil only on the tips

Yes, hair extensions can be harmful. If they are not attached correctly, they can cause irritation and inflammation of the scalp. It's important to consider hair structure and condition during application. Regular check-ups at the hairdresser are also essential.

Be careful – clip-in extensions are the most likely to cause hair damage because they are fixed and removed by the wearer.
