Hair contouring is a technique used to contour facial features and face shapes through colouring and cutting the hair. It works on the same principle as contouring with face make-up.

Contouring is about combining different colours and highlights to create a new look. This can be achieved through targeted colour gradients, different shades and colour contrasts. To achieve a natural and flowing result, it's important to choose the right tone and technique.

Through targeted colouring, certain areas of the hair can be emphasised and reinforced, while other areas fade. Around the face, accentuated highlights are placed and tailored to the face shape.

For a square face, the usual aim is to soften the facial angles and visually lengthen the contour. To do this, the lighter highlights are applied more towards the outer area, possibly with 2-3 lowlights directly around the face.

For a round face shape, similar logic applies to lengthen the face.

For rectangular faces, dark tones should be used at the hairline. Fine highlights from ear height and individually fine highlights in the contour are blended in, so that a uniform, oval effect results.

A heart-shaped face can be contoured very easily. Classically from the roots downwards, the contour highlight can be set lighter and wider, like a classic Money Piece.

As a rule, an appointment without a cut takes between 1.5 and 2.5 hours.

With a cut, the duration is approximately 2 to 3 hours.
